Calgary   is the largest city in the   Province of Alberta in Canada. It is on the edge of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. It is one of the largest cities in Canada.

Calgary is world renowned for its amazing ski slopes in the Rocky Mountains, and other winter sports. As the premiere site of the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, Olympic Park is surely the most visible reminder of the 1988 Games in Calgary. Situated 20 minutes from downtown Calgary, at the gateway to the magnificent Rocky Mountains, Calgary’s premiere recreational and sport learning centre is still used as a multi-purpose athletic, training, and recreational area year-round by athletes and the public. 

Located only minutes from the center of town, Calgary is also home to many fabulous public and private golf courses such as Country Hills Golf Club, Valley Ridge Golf Club, and Silver Springs. You can also take one of the many  fishing guides that offer day and multi-day tours along the renowned Red Deer River and West Country streams in Alberta. Or i f you are feeling a little more adventurous you could go on one of the white water rafting trips where you will experience Class 1 to Class 4 rapids.

Calgary is a family friendly city with many attractions for families with kids. There is a large selection of museums, covering everything from the Aero Space museum to the Firefighters Museum of Calgary. The city is also home to a large zoo and several petting zoos around the city. For the 21 and over crowd there are many attractions including bars, night clubs and even a few casinos. So no matter what age group you will never have a shortage of finding great things to do.

When looking for a place to stay in the city you won’t have to look far. Calgary has many plush, budget-friendly luxury & business-class hotels as well as several bed & breakfast. If you are an outdoors kind of person you may enjoy one of the handful of RV and camp grounds that are surrounding the outskirts of the city. And for all of you budgeting backpackers, the city has two hostels operated by “backpackers for backpackers” with amazingly low prices. If you plan on traveling with a large group you could always rent one of the many vacation properties equipped with all the amenities you would need.

When planning a trip to Calgary one of the things you will not need to worry about is how to get around. If flying into Calgary, the Calgary International Airport is one of Canada’s biggest airports, and yet has never lost that small-airport feel making this important gateway such a pleasure. This airport also offers direct service from Europe and throughout North America. There is also an excellent selection of shopping, restaurants and even a large food court - all at regular mall prices. There are frequent shuttle and bus services to downtown Calgary. Once you get to wherever you plan on staying, you will have several options for getting around the city. Calgary has a large public transportation system of C-Train stations that will take you almost anywhere in the city. If you want to go somewhere on your own schedule, or just don’t feel like riding a train, the city has several taxi services that offer competitive pricing. So no matter what your vacation preference might be, the great municipality of Calgary is a fun and exciting destination.
